Instructions for Authors
The deadline for abstract submission is 5pm 25 April 2008.
The Early Bird Registration fee is available until 5pm 11 July 2008.
Abstract Submission Details
Please note the following:
- Only abstracts submitted in English will be reviewed
- Abstracts are to be submitted in Microsoft Word format only and in a specified format - please see Layout and Format details on the sample abstract template
- Abstracts must be a maximum of 250 words in Abstract text length (250 word limit does not include Paper Title, Author name etc)
- Must use size 12 New Roman font
- Abstracts may contain scientific symbols, tables and figures
- Abstracts must not contain symbols in the abstract title
- All abbreviations must be spelled out on first use
- Abstracts should be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar
- Abstracts may be submittedd as "Oral", "Poster" or "Symposia"
- You will be required to upload your abstract at the end of this form (detailed instructions are outlined on the abstract upload page). As part of the upload procedure, your abstract will be converted to an Adobe Acrobat PDF file - it is the responsibility of the submitting author to view and proof the PDF file (via the Speaker Zone using the access key that will be provided at the end of the submission process) to ensure your abstract has been uploaded successfully.
- Abstracts must be submitted by 5pm 25 April 2008 for consideration by the program committee
- Authors will be notified of the results by email by the 16 June 2008
- All presenters will be required to register for the Conference and pay the registration fee. The Earlybird registration deadline is 11 July 2008
Structure of Abstracts
Abstracts should comprise the following elements, with each beginning a new paragraph:
- Title: The abstract title should be in initial capital / lower case, not all capitals
- Authors: Author's names shoujld be supplied in the surname-last format and should be in initial captial / lower case, not all capitals. Institutional affiliations should be indicated with superscript numbers following the author name.
- Affiliation: All affiliations should contain institution, city and country.
- Abstract text: Sub-headings e.g. Introduction, Method, Results etc. may be included if required.
- References: (optional) References can be included in the abstract text or as a list following the abstract. The style of the references should follow the style of the Journal e.e. numbered or author / date style. Any references included in a reference list must be cited within the abstract text.
- Tables: Tables can be included with abstracts and must be cited in the abstract text. The abstracts themselves must be in text, not table format.
- Figures: All figures should be cited in the text of the abstract.

Disclosure/ Conflict of Interest
Authors must disclose within the body of their abstract affiliations with sponsoring companies, if applicable.
Confirmation of Receipt of Abstracts
You will be sent an acknowledgement via e-mail to confirm that your abstract has been received. If you do not receive the acknowledgement within three days of your submission, please contact the Conference Secretariat on abstracts@iepa2008.com
Abstract Presentation
Abstracts will be accepted for 20 minute oral presentations (15 minutes plus 5 minutes discussion or question time), poster presentations and Symposia proposals. Poster authors will be asked to stand by their poster during scheduled poster presentation times. Authors will be notified of the review outcome by 20th May 2008. Further presentation instructions will be given at this time.
Publication of Abstracts
Abstracts will be published in a dedicated Conference Abstract Book. A copy of the Abstract Book will be given to all delegates who attend the Conference.
Audio Visual
PowerPoint data projection with single screens will be available in all session rooms. Further information about audio visual equipment will be provided to speakers at a later stage.
Poster Sessions
Each poster selected for presentation at IEPA 2008 will be displayed throughout the Conference. Presenters will be available at scheduled Poster Session times to answer any questions and to discuss their results. Poster sessions will provide delegates with an opportunity to mingle with new and old colleagues, stimulate their scientific appetite and have a professional interface with industry sponsors.
